A Year Later

Many of you have followed along with Narda Hunt's story / journey / battle, over the past year.  For those who are newer to us, Narda Hunt, along with her husband Brian, and two daughter were members of our, their daughter are still involved in our kids program.  A lovely local family who were in a fight for Narda's life.Having battled and beat breast cancer more then once, last September Narda was faced with the news that her cancer had moved into her liver and she had just weeks to live.  Thankfully, they did not agree with that news and looked for alternative options, which lead them to a treatment in Germany.  A treatment that would cost a lot of money.  Friends of the Hunt's set up a Go Fund Me page and began to spread the news that they needed some help.Again for those newer to us, Breast Cancer is a cause that is very close to our hearts at CrossFit Indestri.  Not only is Narda a friend and member of our community, but we also have a history at CFI of raising money for breast cancer.  In total, over the past 8 years CFI has helped to raise over $150,000 towards a future without breast cancer, through various events for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.Stouty unfortunately lost his mother to breast cancer, my (Jen's) mother had breast cancer, thankfully a very early stage diagnoses of it.  Other members have had breast cancer, or connections to the cause.  I (Jen) was also the Volunteer Run Director for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure in Collingwood for more than 6 years.  So when we learned of Narda's need for help, we reached out to you, our community!Last September we quickly put together a WOD for Narda + silent auction to help raise some money for her treatment in Germany.  Thank to the generosity of you, business in our community, companies in the larger CrossFit Community, etc. we were able to raise over $12,000 for the Hunt's.We said then, and will say it again now.  When a small community comes together it can make huge impact.  Thanks to so many generous people, and the will and fight of one incredible woman.  One year later Narda is living proof of the impact that a community can have on ones life!Happy to report that a year later, Narda is happy + healthy and is cancer free!Always know that you can truly make an impact on someones life.  Whether big or small, you're impact does make a difference! Please take a moment to watch Narda + Brian's most recent video of thanks.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44heXn0in5c
