Move Mountains

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lc7yHtLTWlAFor our newer members, please meet Jenny Labaw.  Jenny is a 2x CrossFit Games athletes from Northern California.  Hopefully you took a moment to watch the above video.I (Jen) have written an rewritten this blog 4 times now.  Trying to find the right words to explain Jenny & Move Mountains with the justice that they both deserve.  The long and short of it is, that Jenny is an incredible athlete, but even more she is a phenomenal woman.  Truly one of the nicest, most genuine and caring people you could met.  Fun fact, she had crazy strong legs, and can bust out pistols like nothing, and amazing balance, you should see her work a slack line!Jenny is the type of person who you feel lucky to have in your life.  Motivating and supportive.  I first met Jenny in 2013, talking back and forth on FB, and connecting in person that summer at the CrossFit Games.  We kept in touch, and she was actually the first athlete I approached about our idea to do the UG Series Women Strong event.  In 2015 we caught up briefly again at the Games, and chatted about an idea Jenny had to run 500 miles across her home state of Colorado, to raise awareness and money for Epilepsy.  Jenny would call the event Move Mountains, and would raise over $50,000 on her 30 day run!  Both UG Series and CrossFit Indestri supported Jenny on her run.  UG sponsoring her run, and CFI supporting her by running, and raising money to go towards her run.  As a gym community, we ran 500 miles together over the course of the 30 days.  Members coming in early for a WOD and going out to run, staying after, etc.  Sending Jenny messages and videos of support along the way.In 2016 on Jenny created a Move Mountains WOD to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of the competition of her run!  CFI supported Jenny in 2015, and 2016 would be know different.  As luck would have it, it was the same week as UG's Women Strong Retreat, our 6:30pm class hit Move Mountains with 4 special guests, Sam Briggs, Nicole Holcomb, Katie Hogan and Becca Voigt.  Jenny flew in on the redeye the next morning so she could host Move Mountains at her gym and a fiends gym in Cali that day. This year we're continuing with the tradition and continuing to help Jenny Move Mountains for Epilepsy.1 in 26 people in their lifetime will develop Epilepsy, that is where the numbers in the WOD come from.  Much like a hero WOD, when you hit this on Thursday, keep in mind that this WOD was created to celebrate the end of a 500 mile run across Colorado in just 30 days.  That's on average 16.6 miles or 27.6 km a day!Let's get ready to continue to MOVE MOUNTAINS together!** Don't forget to wear purple to show support towards Epilepsy!
