An Update

As we're nearing the end of the April we wanted to once again thank all of you.  We know the current COVID-19 situation isn't easy on anyone.  Many of you use the hour a day with us as your outlet, coming in to the gym, letting all the stresses of daily life go, and just giving yourself an hour of time to work on yourself. Not being able to come into the gym for so many has been an adjustment.  We feel you!  We miss you tremendously.  We've been doing our best to adjust to this time, it's our goal to still give you, that hour for you. While it looks a little different right now, and we've had to make a few adjustments, we want you to know it's still our number one goal.We wanted to share and update you on a couple things. As you may seen on social media, some CrossFit affiliates in the US have been granted the ability to open their doors again for business this weekend, more are set to open on May 4th.  From we understand currently from our Government, we're looking towards that later part of May.  We've been in contact with some of the gyms that are set to reopen in the US and have talked to them about what that looks like for them, what their protocols will be, etc.  We will be staying in touch with them throughout.  We also want to assure you, that when we are allowed to open our doors again, there will be protocols in place to ensure the safety of you and our coaches.  We're working through all those now, to have a plan in place.  We will also keep zoom classes running as well, we know that not everyone will feel comfortable or be able to come back in right away, so the virtual zoom will continue. We would also want to let you know how impressed and truly proud we are of everyone adapting to home workouts.  We know that not everyone has equipment at home, and your ability to adapt has been wonderful to see.  We also know that you may have seen that some other CrossFit affiliates did rent out or loan out some of their equipment.  This was a lengthy discussion that we had, this was not a decision that we came to lightly, but our decision was that we would be unable to rent or loan out our equipment.  For a number of reasons, we do not have enough for it to be fair, and we also spoke with other Canadian affiliates owners to learn that their insurance companies were advising them that they would not have insurance coverage, for either the equipment or the liability of this.  We have spoken with a few insurance brokers, and ultimately received a response from our insurance company.  The insurance company is 100% non-committal and will not confirm coverage for the liability.  This ultimately puts you, and puts us in a position that makes us extremely uncomfortable and that we felt was too risky.  Accidents happen that's why we all have insurance, and while most of those accidents are not serious, and it may not seem like that big of a risk, unfortunately we have seen the other side of that one time that you in fact do require you're insurance because of an accident. We knew when making this decision that it might not be the popular one, we knew it could be upsetting to some, but we do truly hope you understand our position on this. These are strange, and scary times for all.  Every single one of us is greatly impacted by the current situation.  We're all navigating the best way we can, doing the best we can.  Whether you're inside the facility or not, your health and safety is always at the forefront for us.   We're so thankful for each and every one of you.  Grateful to have you as part of our CFI family, and truly wholeheartedly thankful for your support and understanding during these very strange and difficult times. We hope that all of this will be behind us soon, and we can all hit some workouts together inside CFI, until that time,  we're committed to helping you stay safe and active at home. We've got a great week of workouts programmed, we hope to see you guys in the zoom classes this week!
