The Process

You’ll hear us often say things like; there’s no quick fix, trust the process, etc.We live in an age when things happen instantaneously.  We know longer have to physically write (pen) letters + snail mail them, we can email, or text, + get a response immediately, rather than wait days or even weeks.Even ordering packages, companies like amazon.ca have Prime, + ship to arrive the following day.Gratification on things has become instantaneous. For better or worse, this is the world we live in.What we need to remember is that things take time. It takes time to grow a human, it takes time to grow your hair, it takes time to grow vegetables.  It takes time to grow + develop! So why do we think it shouldn’t take time to grow + develop as an athlete?  Why do we feel that skills should just come?  That maybe because we’ve been doing CrossFit for X amount of time, we should be able to do blank?Let’s ask ourselves first, are we developing the skill to do blank?  Take the pull up as an example. When there’s pull ups in the workout, what do you do?  There are tons of options.  Are you talking to the coach to figure out which option is best for you, + what will help you develop that pull up?  Or are you just selecting a certain option because that’s what you’ve always done? Are you sticking around after the workout, coming in before the workout, or coming in to an open gym time, to work on the accessory pieces that will help you develop your pull up?Are you talking to you coach?  Or are you maybe just looking at a few videos online + thinking that will help?  Look, there are some truly incredible online resources out there, but nothing is better than talking to your coach who actually knows you as an athlete!  + it just so happens we’re lucky enough to highly skilled + knowledgeable coaches, who want to help you!  It’s not a burden on them, it’s their job.  Utilize them please, they want to help!At this time of the year we know many of you have created new goals for yourself, whatever they might be.  What we want you to keep in mind, is that anything worth doing, worth doing well, takes time!  Yes, there are some just genetically physically gifted athletes out there, but that’s few + far between.  The majority of us have to trust the process + work really hard! Please don’t get down on yourself if it’s not happening right away + do not give up!Always remember we’re here to help!
