Finding Efficiency
CrossFitters are known for finding efficiency in movement and training. But finding efficiency does not mean finding shorts cuts, or speed.
What we mean is, we want you to do the movement, do out well and efficient without putting more work than necessary into it, but that doesn’t mean finding shortcuts in the movement.
Let’s take the box jump for example. To do a box jump efficiently you might jump with a two foot take off from the ground, land with both feet fulling on top of the box with a slight bend in your knees, stand, and step or jump off the box.
Doing more work than needed on a box jump might look like, someone stepping away from the box, stepping towards the box (to build momentum) landing on the box in a squat position, standing, and stepping off or jumping off the box. Not wrong just less efficient.
Not a crazy big difference, but some little extra movements that have you doing more work.
Now short cutting the movement, might have you jump on the box, not fully stand and extend your hips and come off the box. (Technically a no rep for lack of hip extension.)
The box jump was just used as an example, in a movement like the T2B that we’ll be doing in the workout today, you might see an extra kip or two between each T2B, it’s not wrong, it just less efficient, so lets start to look at ways and working on ways to make our movements more efficient, without short cutting anything.
No one wants to do more work than needed. Coaches are always happy to give you tips for more efficiency in movements.
