Is your routine creating a good habit?

The concept of much of this post was taken from a recent instagram post on Whiteboard Daily.

Do you have a routine in the facility, and is that routine serving you as a good habit, or can it be creating a negative habit? And by routine we more so mean, do you have a specific spot you head towards when you get to class? Maybe set your water bottle there to hold the space and then go about doing a few things, like Crossover Symmetry, etc. And if you do, if you arrive and someone is in that spot, or using the Crossover Symmetry system, does that throw your entire workout and even your entire day off?

If you have a routine that allows you to trust that process, and is something that works for you, something that gets you ready, that’s great as long as it doesn't become a superstition, or something negative if it’s thrown off one day.

If you think you have to do exactly the same thing every time to have success, then that may actually be creating a negative habit.

We train for the unknown and the unknowable. We constantly vary things.

Next time you walk into the facility, set yourself up in a new spot, see how it goes, even if it’s just a foot away from the typical spot.
