Outside Athletic Performance

As a continuation to last night’s post, I mentioned there were a couple things I wanted to highlight about the teams competing over the weekend at UG Series.

Athletic performance accomplishments are great, we’re always proud of how our CrossFit Indestri teams rep our facility. But outside of athletic performance when you think no one is watching, is where some truly incredible displays of camaraderie, respect, etc happen.

On Saturday afternoon, as an affiliate owner I was extremely proud of our teams. One team had a situation where a team member needed to very quickly leave the event site for a personal emergency situation (everything thankfully turned out to be okay) and the team returned for the final event, but without a second thought, the entire team packed up, and headed out to ensure their fellow team member was okay. They supported her 100%. Now don’t get me wrong, these people are all good people, so of course this would be the reaction when a friend needs help, but there is something truly special about the bonds that are created. And witnessing on the sidelines is always special to see.

Our other team also had a highly moment for me. As a former organizer of this event, it’s the little things that I tend to notice. How athletes treat the judges and volunteers for example. It’s a big deal. These people are giving up their entire day to spend time in the sun, on their feet, volunteering to make the event fun and successful. In the final event as we were standing on the sidelines cheering on our team, who had just won their heat. One of the team members on that team, before leaving the field picked up the equipment they had been using and reset the field for the next team coming onto the field, and so that their judge and the volunteers didn’t need to do it. While that may not seem like a big deal, it’s huge in our eyes. It isn’t something that happens all the time believe me. So it was a very proud moment to witness, and it didn’t go unnoticed.

As mentioned at the start of this post, when you compete your athletic accomplishments are something to be very proud of. We have just gotten word that our two teams finals results were, 5th in the semi pro division for Scott, Brit, Dallas and Jordan, and 7th in the RX division for Shayne, Michaela, Cody and Dee (who missed one of workouts). But aside from the athletic performance accomplishments, those moments when you don’t think anyone is watching, those are when you truly shine in our eyes.

Congratulations to both of those teams.
