A Birthday Challenge

In the past we’ve helped members raise money for things like the Animal Shelter, Epilepsy Awareness, Cancer Rides, causes that are close to their hearts, so when we say Andrew’s story about his upcoming Birthday Challenge we reached out and asked if we could share.

Below is some information that Andrew has put together about what he’s doing for his birthday to raise money for local food banks, we’re sharing with you in the hopes that you will donate if you can as well. Andrew is providing you with some information, if you would like to donate in cash, we’ll put a ndonation box on the glass table in the lobby where you can leave a donation for Andrew at the gym and we’ll pass it along to him. Over the last year of volunteering at the Society of St Vincent De Paul food bank, I’ve seen our monthly client list grow substantially. I have noticed an alarming trend where families, both single and double parent, now dominate our client list.

It feels as though we’re adding 1-2 new families to our list each week. A lot of these families need help with more than just food resources – sometimes it’s rent/utilities, clothing, bedding, etc.

In the 34 days leading up to my 34th birthday on March 16th, I’ll be doing 100 Burpees a day (outside of CFI’s prescribed WOD).

My goal is to raise $3400 to split across 3 organizations in Wasaga Beach.

Society of St Vincent De Paul – Food Bank + Monetary Support (Cash or Cheque)

Village of Hope – Food Deliveries + Financial Support to the most vulnerable ( e-transfers to  Tinahurst1959@gmail.com or donations to the VoH account at the TD in Wasaga. Please reference CFI).

Ministerial Food Bank – The Most Established Food Bank Service in Town

If you feel moved to contribute, feel free to arrange a cash donation through me, go directly to one of these organizations or donate to a more local outfit for your community. It’s tough sleddin’ out there for a lot of our community right now.

Andrew has typically been attending the 6am classes so if you do wish to donate in person you can speak directly to him, or if you attend another class time and wish to donate, we’ll have a donation box on the glass table in the lobby where you can leave a donation for him, and remember, that while there is zero pressure at all on any of you to donate, every single dollar does make a difference, no donation is too small, so even if you donate $1, it will make a difference.
