Real Talk, Take Rest Days
Some of our Real Talk posts are coming back. Real talk is just that, real talk. Not sugar coated, sometimes hard truths.
Rest days are just as important as training days.
Rest day’s’, are important, and not just Sunday’s because we’re closed. Traditional CrossFit programming is 3 days on, 1 day off, 2 days on, 1 day off. That’s why you see Thursday’s as one of the slower days in the gym, and we’re closed on Sunday.
Now rest days don’t also mean you have to do absolutely nothing. Though there is nothing wrong with a full rest day. In fact, allowing your body full rest days, will actually help you make bigger gains. Have you ever noticed that you go away for a few days, come back and your training session is so much better? That’s because your body is actually rested, recovered and ready to go. But you can also use a rest day as an active recovery day. Go skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, biking, swimming, go for a walk, go to yoga, or even go to Vortex Wellness Studio and use your CrossFit Indestri discount to get some much needed recovery. But get outside of the gym for more than just Sunday.
Real talk, over training is a real thing, and if we’re seeing you 6 days a week for multiple weeks on end, you’re either sandbagging some of your training days with us, or you’re overtraining. And on the overtraining side is where you will see injuries begin to occur, and we don’t want that. So take rest days, take active recovery days.
