It’s the CrossFit Games Weekend!
It’s a very different year for everything all over the world. While the CrossFit Games look extremely different this year, CrossFit HQ has worked really hard to find a way to still make it happen, for the athletes competing + for us the ‘fans’.
Beginning on Friday 30 male athletes + 30 female athletes will compete over the course of the weekend to find the top 5 male + top 5 female fittest athletes in the world to send to an in person version of the Games at the Ranch!
It should be an interesting + exciting weekend of CrossFit online. Lots of Canadian athletes in the field competing including NCR in Ottawa Co-Owner Pete Shaw who’s making his first appearance at the CrossFit Games.
For those who are newer to CrossFit + might have no idea what the CrossFit Games are, it’s like CrossFit version of the Stanley Cup. To crown the fittest Male + Female athlete in the world. (( There’s usually a team version of the compete too, as well as teens + masters. But with the situation this year, it’s only going to be individuals competing.))
I have to say on a personal note, this is the first year that my (Jen) family + I won’t be attending the CrossFit Games since 2013. In fact it’s the first year since 2012 that we won’t be attending any major CrossFit event, which has made me feel slightly disconnected from the whole thing. Truth be told, we’ve been so focused on getting CrossFit Indestri back to in person training, + making sure that everything runs smoothly on the day to day, that I haven’t paid a ton of attention to the Games. But I’m excited to check it out this weekend.
