Real Talk - Movement

As promised our Real Talk posts are just that, Real Talk. So let’s get into movement.

How you move is more important that how fast you move, or how much weight you move, period.

Your movement matters. It’s why we have movement / range of motion standards. When we as coaches ask you to squat below parallel and stand tall at the top, or to touch your nipples (because that’s your chest, your lower rib cage and stomach is not your chest.) on ground for every burpee, and then the clock turns on and you squat above parallel and keep your shoulders forward and hip bent at the top of every rep, “Real Talk here” we literally want to scream. This is training, this is where you take the time to follow through on the good quality movements for each and every rep. It’s not game day, the clock doesn’t matter, the number of reps don’t matter. The whiteboard is erased at the end of each night. What matters is your movement.

You’re short changing your fitness and your progress if you shortcut your movement.

We know there are athletes with limitations on the range of movement and we know there are athletes who are working daily on reaching the range of movement and fighting every rep to get as close to that as possible. That’s not what we’re referring to. We’re also not calling anyone out through Real Talk posts, we’re sharing some Real Talk.
