With Love

This is said with the upmost care and love.

Don’t fight through shitty movement. Ever.

Some movements are friendlier for you to get away with fighting through shitty movement, but we don’t want you to, and would never recommend you do. This is how injuries happen.

There is no world in which a coach in our facility, would ever encourage you to fight through a WOD, or a particular movement if you were in a compromised position, or moving with incorrect movement patterns.

I say this with the upmost care and love. Witnessing some of the over head carries on Tuesday, I felt like it might be a good idea to mention in a blog, even though coaches do stress moving well. In fact, I heard Steph tell the classes to all, lock out there elbows, tuck in their ribs, stack the wrist over the shoulder joint, to take breaks when you were getting out of position. But what was beginning to happen towards the end of the OH carries were, athletes beginning to walk a little faster as the arms started to bend to race the finish and just get it done, the ribs flaring out in order to keep the weights overhead, etc. There was no unbroken rule in the movement. When your movement starts to breakdown, you should rest. Take a second, shake out the arms, regroup and go again. Rest is your friend when the fatigue sets in and movements start to breakdown. We would much rather you take a little bit longer and be in the right positions, then let positions start to falter and rush.

We never want to see you fight through shitty movement. Instead always strive for virtuosity.

Again, said with the upmost care and love, it’s not a call out, it’s just a friendly reminder.
