The Open is coming

The Open is coming. At the end of this month we learn the first workout, 24.1. If you haven’t already get registered for the open at games.crossfit.com.

We shared some details last week about Saturday’s, and how we will only be able to accommodate spaces for those registered to do the open. You can review that post here if you missed it.

Now we’re sharing how Saturday’s will work for those of you who are registered to compete.

The gym doors will be opening at 8:30am for us to begin setting up. Please aim to arrive between 8:30am and 8:45am.

We will do an athlete briefing and judges briefing between 8:45am and 9am so that our first heat can kick off at 9am. Please ensure you’re here to hear the briefings.

We will have a schedule with lanes and heat times on the whiteboard for you to sign up. When you arrive please fill in your name on a time. Please fill up all the first heats first, don’t come in and sign your name up on the last heat time when there are other heat times available.

The small gym will be used for warming up. A warm up will be written on the board, but it’s up to you to get yourself warm, there will not be a coach in that space. Ensure you’re warm and ready to go for your heat time.

If you’re judging other heat times, please just let us know one heat before your scheduled time, and we’ll ensure you’re not judging so you have time to get warm.

Spectators are more than welcome, and in fact encouraged to come and cheer you on. If you’re bringing your children to watch you and cheer you on, the rules of the gym still apply. Athletes are getting warm in the small gym, kids can not run around, but we will have places they can sit and cheer you on.

We’ll have more fun details about Saturday’s coming soon. Theme’s, etc. But a number of you were asking how the schedule will work, so this is a brief idea, as we never know the workouts or the length of them until the Thursday before.
