‘Tis the Season
‘Tis the season…. We want you to remember something important this holiday season. While we’re in the business of health and fitness, we will never look towards marketing on peoples insecurities for business.
This is the holiday season, it’s about spending time with your loved ones, enjoying each others company, creating lasting memories.
For a very large % of the fitness industry the marketing around the holiday season and the upcoming new year starts to target, what you ate over the holidays, indulgences you may have had, and a new year, new you.
We will never do that. Fitness, training, working out, however you want to define it, is NEVER…. I repeat, never a punishment for something you might eat or drink. You never have to earn your turkey dinner. Fitness is a celebration of what our incredible bodies are capable of doing.
Our goal as a facility is to have you move well. First and foremost, the ability to have you move with proper mechanics inside the facility, will benefit your life outside the facility greatly. Once the mechanics of proper movement are down, we look to the intensity at which we want to see you move. We’re not saying that a goal of some weight loss is a bad thing, it’s not if it makes you healthy, but we’re saying it’s not our goal. What we do inside our facility will indeed result in some weight loss, it might also result in some weight gain ( in terms of muscle). But that is a byproduct of the training we do. Over the years we have had 2 different members with a weight loss of 100 lbs over the course of the year. We certainly celebrated their incredible accomplishment with them, as it made them healthier, but we don’t market it to gain new members.
We’ll have another blog along these lines for you next week, but the point is, enjoy your holidays. That doesn’t mean go completely nuts, but it does mean, don’t feel badly for taking a few days off from the gym to create memories with your loved ones.
