Honouring JY
As CrossFitters we typically use workouts as a way to honour people. For those of you who don't know who JY is, Jen Young was a CrossFit Athlete from Burlington. She was not a games athlete, just a weekend warrior like most of us. But she made a huge and lasting impact on the community.
Jen loved CrossFit, the athletes, the workouts, but most importantly the community. From competing in local competitions to writing for Sweat RX Magazine. JY was ingrained in the Canada East Community, and after she was diagnosed with Cervical cancer it become her mission to help others in the same situation which is why she created a foundation to help others called Love the Snatch.
Unfortunately Jen lost her battle with cervical cancer on May 17th, 2015. There are a handful of us here at CF Indestri who were lucky enough to know this incredible woman! For those of us who knew her, we’re honoured to get to share a tiny little bit of who Jen was with new CrossFitters each year on May 17th, and to get to spend some time gruelling out this workout to continuing to honour her, doing something she loved!
So get if you have one, get out your Love the Snatch shirts, or wear the colour teal, and much like a hero WOD, today, give this one everything you have for JY!
This workout is called JY Pi because Jen loved numbers, Pi being her favourite.

3 Rounds
20 Toe Touches
10 Air Squats
10 Step Ups
10 PVC Pass Throughs
5 Scap Retract Push ups
5 Burpees
Focus:
10 min EMOM
Odd Min - 3 Muscle Snatch, 3 High Hang Snatch, 3 OH Squat w/ pause
Even Min - 30 DU’s + 3/3 weighted pistols to a box
*Workout Movement Prep ( 5 reps of movements not already warm )
WOD:
71 DUs
Then 2 Rounds of:
3 Power Snatch
14 Box Jumps
3 Full Snatch
14 T2B OR Toes to PVC
3 OHS
14 Burpees
Then 1 round of:
3 C2B (Bent Rows)
14 Power Cleans
3 HSPU OR Pike Push Ups
14 Full Cleans
3 Pistols (per leg)
14 Shoulder 2 OH
Then 70 DUs
**Coach Cash Out based on timing. Typically in the facility this workout would take around 20 - 25 mins, but the home version may be less, so based on timing coaches will give a cash out at the end.
