Be Present
Are you present when you’re in class?
One of the reasons CrossFit Affiliates are bare bones, so to speak, is because we don’t want you to be distracted, mirrors, TV’s, etc. are all distractions away from you being focused and in it.
Focus on the movement, focus on what you’re being tasked to do. Injuries also occur when we’re not focused on what we’re doing.
Last Friday’s workout was set in a way that forced you to be focused, there were two parts of the workout, the 1 min of ME Hang Power Cleans, was timed by you in the workout. You had to check the clock and pay attention to the timing. You also had a timed rest, for 90 seconds which was on you to keep track of as well. This forced you to be present and not just in “go” mode. You also had to reach a total number of reps, which caused you to focus.
It’s important that you’re present in classes. Present with your movement, present with your mind set, present with your rep counting, etc.
When you come to the facility, we have the program set for you, and the coaches go through all the movements, and tasks for you, that leaves all the guess works out of what’s happening for the hour, but that doesn’t mean we want you to entirely check out and just move. It’s very much the opposite, we want you completely present and focused at all times.
