Coach Sarah Reid

This week I want to introduce you to a coach at Indestri that has battled her way through life with fitness as a tool, into a person that is happy, confident, active and fun to be around. This coach can be found mainly at night time but if theres a strongman workout going on she's either leading it or right in the Mix.Today I'm going to give you a brief insight to Coach Sarah Reid.Sarah came to us here at Indestri from CrossFit Indestri Beach. She arrived with a close knit community that were merging with an already close community gym at Indestri. The beach people as they were quickly referred to during transition were welcomed to Indestri right away and once they got used to the size of the gym and membership, they quickly became part of the CFI family. I remember Sarah as a hard worker and I had no idea what she had already accomplished at Indestri Beach before coming through our doors. Sarah is a EMS/ Paramedic and trust me, you are hoping if something bad happens to you that she is the one arriving as she is incredibly strong, level headed and amazing at her job. We are proud to have her as part of our team and community.Sarah was not in bad shape when she started CrossFit.. (but as many of us learn we aren't in great shape after our first CF WOD)  but regardless she went to work and started changing that feeling of unsure to a feeling of confidence and with her knowledge from Coach D, demonstrated in class we realized she was a natural coach. She was patient and had a keen eye for movement, she then passed her L1 certification and eventually at our request she started teaching 1 on 1 sessions and shadowing coaches. Eventually into the mix as a class coach.Sarah has been with us now for many years and has continued to educate herself. Did you know she has the following certifications?Adaptive CrossFitCrossroadsaa CertCrossFit Olympic LiftingCrossFit KettlebellCrossFit StrongmanCrossFit L-1Alex Kazamm GymnasticsLucas Parker Barbell cyclingIm sure she has more, She is highly educated a great resource for you to tap into and get an understanding about progressions or tips to move safer and better.Sarah has also overcome a fair amount in her life but one thing she has shown all of us was her determination and adaptability after a severe wrist injury resulted in a surgery and left her with a very un mobile wrist. The injury was a torn schapholunate ligament and had to have a reconstruction done. She did not let this stop her, she gravitated over to the strongman side of training where it was less trying to grip barbells and more holding awkward objects and learned to adapt when needed to still achieve the stimulus of a workout even if needing to change the movement. Sarah still this day struggles with the mobility in her wrist but has made huge progress by doing all the necessary mobility work and accessory work as well as understanding where to adapt to keep the workout safe.Sarah Notables

  • Never try to take her Tacos
  • She can Squat like a boss
  • She loves stones, tires, axle bars and really anything awkward...

Sarah is a gem of a person, she's funny (well at least she thinks she is) well educated, determined and kind. If you havent met her yet? swing by a Tuesday night Oly class or an evening class, she's usually in the gym or saving lives depending on her work schedule.Thank you SarahWe appreciate you and are stoked to have you with us!-Stouty

Reminder lil' kilos + big gainz

We're thrilled that it's the second week of our lil' kilos + big gainz classes.  We had a great first week last week.  The kids we're extremely excited to be in the gym and we're equally as excited to be able to offer these programs.Just a reminder that when the kids arrive for class they need to sit in the lobby area and wait for their class time.  During the classes we still have open gym happening for the adults so no children can be in the gym or on any equipment outside of their class times. We're very excited to be able to offer programs to kick start healthy and fun relationships with fitness from a young age like lil' kilos + big gainz.
