CrossFit Collingwood? Local Athletes Train At CrossFit Indestri in Collingwood

CrossFit Collingwood?Chris StoutenburgCrossFit Indestri in Collingwood is a strength and conditioning facility with over 300 members ranging in age from four to seventy-eight years old.  Although we promote healthier living in Collingwood, and CrossFit Indestri’s main focus is “Building a Stronger Collingwood One Workout at a Time”, we do have amateur and pro athletes who use our philosophy as a cross-training tool. One such athlete is Chris “Stouty” Stoutenburg.  Stouty is a wheelchair basketball athlete who has won 2 golds, and one silver with team Canada at the Olympics.  After retiring from basketball, and settling back down into a quieter life here in Collingwood, he decided to give CrossFit Indestri a shot.It has been a truly inspiring story as Stouty has regained the ability to control his core after 15 years of being told he would not have any feeling from his sternum downwards.  He contributes a lot of his success to CrossFit, but the way Stouty approaches everyday life and workouts is the true reason.  He has the “can do” attitude, and will not back down from a challenge.Stouty still maintains his skills on the court playing once or twice a week in the Toronto area.  He has upped his game drastically since entering the doors of CrossFit Indestri.  This has led to Stouty coming out of retirement and playing for the Canada’s national basketball team.  Stouty will be heading to the Pan-Am games this summer in Toronto and to Rio de Jeneiro, Brazil in 2016.It has been an exciting time coaching Stouty day in and day out.  I always say if some of our members had half his heart, they would be CrossFit Games level athletes.  His drive and determination is what makes our community here in Collingwood one of the strongest around. Tyson HornbyOwner of CrossFit Indestri200 Mountain Road Unit 3Collingwood, ONL9Y 4V5
