Post Open CrossFit Stoke
Much like surfer stoke after you catch a wave. That feeling you get of wanting to do it again and again, craving/seeking that feeling of excitement, pleasure, happiness, the rush you get, it also happens within CrossFit. Discovering what your body is truly capable of, pushing yourself to do things you weren't sure you could do. It’s an incredible thing to push your body past what you might have thought possible, and we all get a degree of CrossFit Stoke at one time or another, we see it especially after the CrossFit Open.
And we love it, but where we need to be cautious is to ensure that we’re still listening to our bodies, to not overdue things by pushing our bodies to the point of redlining in workouts too often. What we do daily in classes is training, what we did during the CrossFit Open workouts, was competing. The push is okay, even encouraged, but in our programming we take into account time domains, movements, stimulus, etc. We’ve been around for along time, we’ve seen a lot, and learned a lot.
Fuelling, hydrating and sleeping all play huge rolls in our ability to recover from workouts, and pushing our bodies. Rest days are also important, if you look at CrossFit.com you will notice they program 3 days on, 1 day off, 2 days on, 1 day off. You’re meant to take rest days, and active recovery days. We gain strength in recovery.
CrossFit programming is constantly varied, because we don’t want to overtrain or overload. That’s when injuries occur. (From our end, as an example, you might feel that one week was shoulder heavy, we know that, and the programming coming into the following week will have that into account.)
We all love CrossFit, it’s an incredible way to train, and it works, and there is nothing wrong with getting CrossFit Stoke either as long as you’re listening to your body.
