Judges Course
The judges course for the 2021 CrossFit Open is now available at crossfit.com and truth be told out of all 9 or so years we have done this course, this was the best one yet.
Really impressed with the course this year.
Even if you never want to judge in a competition, it’s still an excellent course to take. However we (pre-covid) have in-house competition that we always need judges for.
If you’re an athlete who competes, or ever might want to compete, you should absolutely be taking this as well. But also, if you have some time on your hands and just want to learn what judges and even coaches are looking for in movement standards, this is an excellent way to see it!
Everyone passes the judges course. If you get a question wrong, you will be asked to redo the questions.
If you have any questions about it, feel free to shoot us a message. We don’t have all the answers, this is something put together by CrossFit Headquarters. But we will do our best to share what we know. There is a $10 us cost to crossfit.com to take the course and it does take some time, but you can finish one section at a time. It’s not mandatory that you take it. It was just really well done this year, even giving suggestions on how to watch certain movements, and also sharing the common faults that might be seen in. If you can’t tell, a little excited, if you’ve done the course before, you know there as a lot of video review, and at some point it felt like you watched the same video 5 times because reviewing movement on a video can be harder, this wasn’t like that. There are some video review, but not like years past.

Focus:
3 x 5-8 pike push up negatives / push up negatives with tempo 5-10 sec negatives
3 x 8-10 pike push ups or push ups
3 x 8-10 seated straddle DB strict press
3 x 30-45 sec hold at top of pike or handstand hold or plank
WOD:
5 x 3 min AMRAP’s with 1 min rest after each of:
20 Air Squats
10 HSPU or Pike or HR
30 Mountain climbers
1 min rest
