This past Saturday was the Jax Pays it Forward event at Side Lunch Brewery. One of our members Shawtelle, her husband Drew, and their daughter Jax have put this event on for 4 years now.
Jax has SVT a heart condition, and because of the number of times they have to take her to the hospital and sometimes the length of the stay at the Ronald McDonald House, they created the Jax Pays it Forward event to give back, by fundraising for the two places (Collingwood Hospital, and Ronald McDonald House) that are so important in their lives and in the health of their daughter Jax.
First we want to congratulation Shaw, Drew and Jax on an incredible event. This was our first time attending and it was a wonderful event and afternoon. The final tally for funds raised is still being calculated, we will share with you once we know it. But it’s safe to say they raised a ton of money for the Collingwood Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House.
We also want to give a shout out to a few members, Zach, Gina and Clark, who were all also a part of the event, Zach helping with the music equipment and performing with his band, and Gina and Clark who spoke and shared their story and experience with the Ronald McDonald House and Collingwood Hospital. As well as tons of other members who were out helping, and there supporting the event and the Davenport family, and this great cause. Also to my daughter Emma who was on site all afternoon helping to capture all the beautiful moments and memories of the 4th Annual Jax Pays it Forward event.
As much as what we do at CrossFit Indestri day in and day out is working out and fitness. CrossFit and CrossFit Indestri is and has always been so much more than that. We’re a community, we show up for our community, we support our community, and yesterday looking around the event I was extremely proud to see so many of you doing just that.
Congratulations Davenports, we can wait for the event next year.
