It’s Here
Both the most wonderful and most stressful time of the year.
If you’re signing up for the 2024 CrossFit Open, we hope you already did. You will need to be signed up before Saturday morning in order to do the workout with us on Saturday.
A few key points about how the open will run on Saturday’s.
Athletes competing and judges helping out, please arrive at the facility at 8:30am. We will hold the workout briefing at 8:45am, you need to be here for the briefing.
We need judges, so if you’re able to help us out, please come, we will need the help.
When you arrive we will have the whiteboard set up with heats and times, please sign up for a heat and time. You need to be here to sign up for a heat and time, please do not send a friend do it for you, and please fill in the times from earlier to later, as we don’t want empty spaces in heats.
We will have the small gym area set up for warming up and will have a warm up written on the whiteboard over there, you are responsible for getting yourself warmed up before your time is ready to go.
We encourage you to bring your family and fiends, if you’re a member not competing, we encourage you to come cheer on your fellow athletes, kids are welcome, but they must stay off the gym floor, and out of the warm up area for safety, we will have areas around the gym set up for spectators to cheer.
Again, we need help judging. The Open only works with the support of everyone, so we ask that you volunteer to help judge some athletes please.
PARKING - We will not have enough space in front of our facility for all the cars. Please DO NOT park in front of the Marina next door, we have made arrangements with Angora for you to be able to park at our end of the building in the front parking lot area of Agnora off the 10th by the boats and you’ll have to walk over through the fenced in area. Yes it’s a bit of a walk, but you’re coming to a gym.
Remember this week for 24.1 the theme is Barbie and Ken, come dressed in your Barbie and Ken attire, think pinks, bright colours, neons, etc. Get creative.
The Open is truly one of our favourite times of the year. It’s a ton of extra work for us, and can be pretty stressful, but we love it. Which is why we encourage you to do it. It might also seem like we have a lot of “rules", but after over 13 years of running the open in our facility, and other various competitions, we’ve worked on best practices, and how we can safely, and effectively, get over 60 athletes through all the workouts, and hold the magic and the fun of the open.
Reminder: You will not be able to login for the Open class on Saturday in Zenplanner. If you’re registered for the open, we expect you’re coming already and have you as attending.
Below are some of the pages from the movement standards for 24.1 showing Good vs. No Reps on both the DB Snatch, and the Burpee over DB. We will go over all this on Saturday morning at 8:45am for Athletes and Judges. A piece of advice, DO NOT STRESS. This is just another workout with your friends at CrossFit Indestri. DO NOT OVER THINK IT, DO NOT GAME IT. We want each of you to do your very best, and will help give all the tips and pointers on Saturday morning, until then, your job is to live your life. Fuel your body, hydrate your body, recover your body, and mobilize your body. DO NOT STRESS.
