The Cost
There are lots of misconceptions that surround CrossFit so we asked on social media for you to share things that you’ve heard about CrossFit that we can debunk or clarify.
One thing that came up was that CrossFit is expensive.
For those who started CrossFit back in the day at the old gym location with us, you might remember that an unlimited membership cost was $155. + tax per month. When we moved to the location we’re currently in the price was reduced to $125. + tax per month ( for an unlimited membership ) and has stayed the same price all these years later. Over a decade in business later and while our costs have all increased, our membership price has never.
$125. per month for an unlimited membership with us, that most people use between 4 to 6 times per week = on average = $5 to $7 per class. The average personal training session costs between $50 to $75 per hour. At $125. per month for an unlimited membership you’re paying roughly $25 - $30 per week, depending on how many weeks fall in that particular month.
Other facilities in our area charge between $45 - $65 per week which works out to $180 - $260 + tax per month, while others charge $140 - $155 per month or even $20. per each class attended on punch cards.
If we take the highest of the above at $260 + tax per month and average it for classes between 4 to 7 times per week = between $9 to $16. per class. $9 if you’re attending 7 days per week, $16 if you’re attending 4 classes per week, vs. our $5 if you’re attending 6 classes per week or $7 if you’re attending 4 classes per week.
Of course there are facilities that you can go and pay $30 to $50 per month, maybe even less, and do a workout. But those aren’t coach led facilities, you don't have the programming done for you, or the coach on the floor coaching you through the movement and ensuring that you’re moving correctly.
Of course this breakdown isn’t to make anyone feel badly for saying that CrossFit can be expensive. We’re simply addressing one of the answers that has come up.
