Change it up
For years CrossFit has said routine is the enemy. Constantly varied functional movements is what CrossFit is at its core.
So why don’t you constantly vary anything else about coming to the facility? Change it up. If you’re sticking to the same class time, the same coach, the same days of the week, the same spots in the facility. Change it up. Start by attending one different class time a week, or even a month. If 6am works for you, chances are so does 6pm. If 9:30am works for you, chances are so does 12pm. If 7am works for you, get up a little bit earlier and go to 6am. Just once a week or even once a month. See how it feels, meet new people, etc.
If you’re a 3x a week athlete and only come Monday, Wednesday, Friday, change that up, come Monday, Tuesday, Thursday once. Don’t get so stuck in habits and routines that you can’t change it up ever. If you’re an unlimited athlete and coming 6x a week, take a rest day and go use your fitness outside.
I know 95% of you are reading this and saying hell no, this is what works for me, period. Well there was a time once when you also didn’t CrossFit, some of you even thought that CrossFit was crazy, that you would never do it, and look at you now. It’s kind of like we know what we’re talking about.
Change it up, once a week, once a month, step outside of your habit and give it a try.
