As promised, here are the details for this Sunday’s talk and the Challenge for February 2014:
Where and When: 1 pm at CFI. The talk will be about 60 mins to 90 mins depending on the amount of questions.
How much? The lecture is Free with a food donation to the food bank (non-perishable). The 28 day challenge will be $20 for the journal review and prizes, or $30 for a whole family.
Do I have to do the challenge if I attend? Nope! But I will encourage it.
When does the challenge start? February 3rd, 2014 (yes you can still enjoy your super bowl and puppy bowl parties!)
Who can come? Can I bring my partner/kids/dogs/etc? Yes to all (no cats though!). It’s open to everyone and anyone. It’s also a great way to introduce others to your Crossfit Indestri family and prove we aren’t a cult!
What will be discussed? Topics will include:
- What “real foods” are and what macronutrients ratios are recommended
- Fueling for performance, including a discussion on how power sports like crossfit and endurance sports have different requirements
- Training recovery
- Gut health and its importance for overall health
- Family meal planning and feeding children
- Tips for eating well on a budget
- Healthy relationships for food
Please bring your favorite paleo/grain free recipes to share or discuss with other members. I am also encouraging people to make and bring some meals/treats to share. This will encourage others to see how good and easy real foods can be. The potluck isn’t mandatory, just another way to encourage discussion on what people are eating (“theory to plate”).
Info for those doing the challenge: It will be a 28 day challenge (ending March 1st) for those that sign up. It will involve a weekly journal of your meals and overall health (i.e. sleep, hydration, etc). There will also be a short written paragraph requirement at the end on reflecting what you learned this month. Prizes won’t be for greatest weight loss (but could be a factor), but based on those who learned the most or changed their relationship with food. You will choose how strict of a challenge you will participate in (“choose your adventure”), but we will push you all.
