We’ve been getting a lot of questions regarding the comp this weekend, so I’ll try to answer as many as I can.
All Indestri athletes and volunteers should meet at the gym at 8:00 am Saturday. There is limited parking at the farm, so we’ll need everyone to crowd into as few cars as possible. For those that do drive up there, could you please park on the side of the road by the gates. Be careful you don’t go too far into the ditch!
Directions were part of the athlete letter, but basically you drive up Scenic Caves hill to the 3rd concession. Turn left, and it’s the second farm on the right. Valley Ridge Farm. Can’t miss it, large riding arena is where registration will be.
I suggest volunteers dress warmly with many layers. You never know what kind of whether we’ll see up there. The entire event should be done in about 4 hours from start time 10:00.
You don’t have to bring your own snowshoes unless you want, Tubbs has given us 140 pairs for all athletes and volunteers.
You may want to bring lawn chairs for post event, to enjoy a Creemore and bowl of chilli.(Thanks Steph Mclarty!)
You may also want to pack some dry warm clothes for after in case you sweat through your gear. This is when you start to get really cold post race. I would suggest wearing a camel back or hydration pack with some snacks inside the pockets. Be prepared for a 3 hour workout, with no access to your supplies at base camp.
All volunteers will be briefed in the morning at about 8:45. Its not going to be too stressful, this is a fun event with a different flavour than other high level competitions. We’re all about the fun.
I’m excited for the number of members participating this year. Awesome support gang, and I hope you guys have a blast out there. For those members volunteering their time, we thank you, and hopefully next year, you’ll be competing.
If you have any other questions, let me know.
