I’m sure you have seen her in the gym, sometimes you see her there in the morning and still there at night.. Coach Britney Holmberg is the perfect definition of a “Gym Rat” She lives in the gym and really enjoys fitness.
Britney is a competitor, coach, fire fighter and candy addict. She enjoys trying new sports and injuring herself in the process. I met Brit through the power of social media before she became a coach here at indestri and my first workout with her was both of us in wheelchair because she had hurt herself and was wearing a boot. I believe it was a broken bone but with her it could of been anything.. Did I mention she is accident prone??
If you haven’t seen her then you only come at 6 am because she will never wake up that early unless she’s still awake from the night before. We do see here around 8am occasionally but usually looks like she just woke up or needs to go to bed. She works as a fire fighter in Brampton and will often finish an all nighter shift where she is saving lives, responding to all emergency calls and drive directly to the gym without stopping at home. ( Did I call her a gym rat yet?)
I admire her ability to “Go Dark” she can get into a workout and overcome the want to stop or slow down but instead she picks up the pace. She is know to vomit occasionally or let loose a warrior cry to keep moving but her sheer ability to endure is amazing.
Brit Note: She is a cat loving, animal rights activist with some of the smelliest knees sleeves ever that were recently retired in Costa Rica I believe ( Thanks Brit)
Many of you wont know this but she is well versed in the mobility aspect of CrossFit.. I think she had to learn to fix herself from wipeouts on bikes, surf boards, skate boards, hockey .. all the extreme sports you know like walking :) But for real she hurts herself all the time.. And she knows exactly what is hurt and how to address it. If you have aches and pains chat with her of come to mobility Class as when she isn’t on shift she will be teaching that class and using really big words that most of us just smile and nod too :)
Brit Note: She has a big heart and a loud voice and zero filter.. can be a dangerous combo when influenced by alcohol.
Coach Brit is known for making adults play games in warm up or cool down and this is because she is a big kid and deep down I don’t think that will ever go away. It is what makes her special and why we enjoy having her around.
Brit note: She has a six pack and a booty that wont fit under a barbell, I saw her test it lol… and her diet is 70% Candy. I know.. Its not fair. But for real she has a solid understanding of nutrition, mobility and accessory work so if you are looking for advice she can help.
She will always be laughing, telling bad jokes, posting crazy shit on Instagram and be willing to hit that workout with you. Huge personality and fun person to be around. Glad to have you aboard Brit!
Future for Britney?
Cat Lady, swearing, playing red rover and lifting well into her 90’s… but very well could be side by side with me in some sort of adaptive device.
If you see Brit in the gym say hi or wait 10 seconds and she will say high to you.
