Let’s have some fun this weekend with a lil’ Coaches Pick with yours truly, Tyson. Not sure what I am in the mood for in terms of exercises used, but an overall format has been masterminded;) It will be a lot of fun, in the Indestri Athletics way.
On another note, I have wanted to do a write up about our experience in the Epic 8 Hour Mountain Bike Relay last Saturday. Scott, Jay, Paul and I teamed up for the event, and I have to say it was a lot of fun, but challenging at the same time. Scott and Jay have previous Mountain Biking experience, while Paul has minimal, and it was my first time on a mountain bike (exception: the CCM I use to ride around town when I was a kid). Fair enough to say Scott and Jay were our anchors for the team.
I was very impressed with how some of the riders were able to tackle the downhill portions of the race. I think I rode my breaks for the first two laps, and eased off on my third. By the way, the rest of the team will be willing to tell all of you why my third, and the final lap of the day, did not count.
I will say, climbing the hills were a challenge, but the constant squatting, thrusters, and wall balls we do gives us a chance at the climbs without prior experience. I just kept reminding myself I have a sub-4 minute “Karen” Time! It worked, except on the very technical parts.
The CHICO race crew puts on great events, and they are hosting “Crank the Shield” this September in Haliburton. It will be a 3 day race, with 70, 80, 90kms routes over three days. If you are interested, get signed up! I know Scott and Jay have already done so. I may need some time on my mountain bike before that race though;) Click on the pic below to take you to their website for more information.
